My 2 Reasons

Hi there Scrappers! Just wanted to share my first layout for Treasured Memories Design Team 2010. The requirements were as follows:

1. The layout must be about yourself.
2. The layout must contain an 8x10 or larger photo of yourself.
3. The layout must include a creative title that describes yourself.
4. The layout must be a two-page layout.

My Two Reasons: My layout includes a picture of me with my two sons, who give meaning to my life and are the main reason for my scrapbooking.

I cut my 8x10 photo into three strips to give a little more movement to my layout and to really bring the eye to the focal point of my photo. For this layout, I chose My Mind's Eye Ooo La La Girl paper. LOVE these bright, cheerful colors.

To create my title, I used my MM Slice and the Animal Crackers cartridge to cut out alphas and a large number. I spritzed the number with Tattered Angels Turquoise Glimmer Mist. And to make all those cute alphas stand out, I outlined them with my black Zig Writer.

The base butterflies on my layout are cut from a Hambly Transparency and topped with a Martha Stewart large butterfly punched from a sheet of the My Mind's Eye Ooo La La paper. I used some of the MME die cuts for their centers and to create this little cluster at the top. The cluster is anchored by a snippet of Prima packaging, the one that the blue paper flowers came in. And those book paper flowers? I made those myself. They are also spritzed with Glimmer Mist.

All of these products (except for the Martha Stewart butterfly punch) are available at Treasured Memories, my favorite scrapbook store, located in Lafayette, Louisiana. Be sure to head over to the store and see all the new products rolling in since CHA. See ya'll soon!

How about a little something scrappy?

Seems like forever since I actually posted a layout or other creation. I finally finished this altered frame using Imaginisce's Lucy Bird and my Slice.

Altered Frame: I went a little crazy cutting flowers out of all the different patterns of paper. FUN! And for the centers, I created some more of these fun spiral flowers. To finish it off, I added ribbon around the outside of the frame along with a punched border around the edge. I love the bright colors!

Thanks for stopping by! Be back soon with Paper Poppy layout sneaks. Eeek!!!

Snow My Goodness!

Twice in 2010 my house has looked like this.

Unbelievable considering that I can count on one hand the number of times it has snowed in Louisiana in my lifetime.

Aren't we a motley bunch? We are not prepared for this type of weather. My toddler is wearing socks on his hands. And I have no hat to speak of. And the three layers of pants that I'm wearing really don't do much for my hips. Regardless, I love this picture of us. Maybe with a little editing I could use it for next year's Christmas card.

Today's a big, slusy mess, so we're staying inside with a nice roaring fire and some warm beef stew. YUM! Hope you are warm and dry where you are.

We're counting down the days until we reveal the first kit at The Paper Poppy Kit Co. by hosting daily giveaways. Nuts, hun? Please come join in the craziness. Oh, and bring a friend!

No More Sneaking Around

So my patient bloggy friends, I am finally ready to quit teasing you with sneak peeks and give you ALL the details. Ready?

Ok, the new "venture" that I've been hinting at is this.

I decided that 2010, the year that I turn 40, is the year to step out of the box, take a risk, and make it happen! So, of course, I started a scrapbook kit company. LOL!

Anyway, my kits will feature the latest scrapbook products mixed with vintage, handmade, and custom embellishments all at an affordable price.

While you're waiting for the first kit to be revealed HERE at the website on March 1st, please do pop in at the blog HERE for some fabulous giveaways! To be eligible for the first giveaway, all you have to do is follow the blog. Easy peasy, right? Good. Now scoot.

Scraplifted and Ca-UTE!

The other day Jana Eubank posted an altered bead sorter turned chocolate survival kit HERE and I just knew I was going to scraplift it. Especially since I had just tossed out (put in the attic just in case) some small plastic organizers that didn't quite work in my scrap cabinet. I sent my hubby right on up there to get them, and I created these.

Each box measures 5" x 7", is filled with about $2.00 worth of candy, and is covered with products from my stash. As you can see, I am STILL playing with the Cuttlebug Dotted Swiss embossing folder. LOVE it!!! And the word "enjoy" was cut using my MM Slice Basics 1 cartridge. Every Slice cartridge has words or expressions, but this is the first time I've used that and I WILL be doing that again. The rest of the title was created with Making Memories Tiny Alphas.

The flowers were cut from a piece of Cloud9Design sparkle cardstock and embellished with pearl and bling brads. The hearts were cut from book paper using my ProvoCraft concentric hearts die. From the same book paper, I punched out a little butterfly using my favorite Martha Stewart punch. To top it off, I added a little bling, some baker's twine, and a doodled butterfly trail.

Thanks for stopping by! Now, go scraplift something fantastic that you've seen today.

Imaginisce Sketch Challenge

Each month we'll be having a sketch challenge at the Imaginisce blog. The first one goes up today and was created by the fabulous Julie Bonner.

Just by popping over to Just Imagine and leaving a comment on the sketch, you can be eligible for a $50 prize package! Wait....there's more. If you leave a comment at each designer's blog, you get more chances to win.

Higher: Here's a layout of my little fellow swinging in the backyard. He constantly says, "Mommy, Can you swing me higher?" Sound familiar?

To stick with the theme of the paper and the photos, I added some mini folded paper airplanes and then stitched some loop-de-loops behind them. Fun stuff, hun?

As you can see, I grabbed my MM Slice Animal Crackers cartridge and Cuttlebug Dotted Swiss embossing folder to create my layout. Soooo fun! The title is actually cut from Imaginisce packaging. Thrifty.

Don't forget to leave comments at Imaginisce's blog and at each designer's blog to get 17 chances at winning the $50 prize package. Good luck! I'm rooting for ya!

Oh, and this is a challenge. So create your own layout based on the sketch and post it at Imaginisce and you could win a prize package for that, too! Can't wait to see what YOU create.
