How many clicks does it take?

Back in April, I was assigned to create a layout using outtakes for Cricut Circle Magazine.  I immediately thought of my kiddos at the beach.  Every year I dress us up in coordinating outfits and parade us out to the dunes at dusk and proceed to snap TONS of pictures in an effort to get at least one good shot of everyone.  My kids roll around in the sand, make sand angels, stick out their tongues, put up the rabbit ears.  Ya know, everything but smile and look at the camera.  After a few threats encouraging words, I usually get a good shot.

How Many Clicks Does It Take?

I used Cricut Craft Room and a slew of cartridges on this one:  Movie Night Digital, Creative Memories Traveler, Close to My Heart Art Philosophy, Create A Critter, Cindy Loo, and Cursive 101. I might have gotten a little carried away, but CCR makes it so easy to design with multiple cartridges.

This film strip cut was my favorite part of the layout.  It's part of the Movie Night CCR Exclusive Digital cartridge.  I stretched it a bit and added pictures and patterned paper behind it.  SO easy, and I just love that look!

I was very impressed with the detailed cutwork on the Cursive 101 font.  I will definitely be using that font more often!

Have a happy Saturday! We're going to try to make the best of our day despite the unbearable heat outside.  Sounds like a good day for crafts, right?

TSR July Sneak

For my July ScrapRoom sneak layout, I got to work with Bella Blvd's Happiness and Sunshine collection. Be. Still. My. Heart! LOVE the bright colors. Totally my thing for some summer pics of my little man digging in the dirt.

Loving the Sunshine

Clouds, sunshine, polka dots, and stripes. A crocheted flower, chipboard ladybug, buttons with twine, and stickers. Love it all!

I rearranged the letters in "happiness" from the chipboard sheet for my title.  I also used some of the mini alphabet stickers cut into little pennants.

This line comes in the ScrapRoom's July Flavors of the Month kit, which will be revealed in its entirety sometime Sunday night. Be sure to check it out . . . you will LOVE it!

I'll be back Monday with more of my July layouts.  Have a great weekend!

ScrapRoom June Page Starter Version 2

We have a new feature over at The ScrapRoom.  Each month, we'll offer up a Page Starter, which is the beginning of a scrapbook page.  Patterned paper only.  We'll challenge you to finish the page and show you an example or two of what we came up with. Here's my second example with the June Page Starter.

Swim Lessons

For this layout, I used the Fancy Pants Summer Soul Page Kit that came in the June Double Shot. I also made a couple of changes to the formula. First, I turned the large 5.5" circle into a sun by adding 1" and 2" notched paper strips for the rays. LOVE the whimsical feel it adds to the layout! Secondly, I used four 2" x 3" photos instead of two 4" x 6".

I originally wanted to curve my title around the edge of the circle, but it didn't really look good with the rays behind it.  Oh well . . . I'll have to come back to that idea.  The blue Thickers are from my stash and the October Afternoon Orange Mini Market alphabet stickers came in the May Venti kit.

My embellishment cluster consists of two surfboards cut from the Fancy Pants Beach Towel patterned paper, three Fancy Pants Elements stickers, a Fancy Pants button, and some Doodle Twine. With the help of some pop dots and clear dimensional dots, I was able to give the cluster a little dimension.

You still have plenty of time to join in on our June Page Starter Challenge. You can see all the details and link up your take HERE at The ScrapRoom Blog.

Thanks for coming by today!  See ya soon.  TSR sneaks begin on Monday!!!

Doodle Sketch Layout

A new sketch went up at the Doodlebug blog today. It's an awesome single page layout with room for five photos. And since we're featuring the Doodlebug/Hampton Arts stamps all month, I also had to incorporate those into my layout.  Here's what I came up with.

Hello Summer 2012

I used papers from the Boys Only collection. The colors were a perfect match for my pictures, and I just love how they popped off the grey background. As for embellishments, I used the coordinating buttons, brads, pearls, and twine.  And the brand NEW Teensy Tiny alphas in Swimming Pool.

I used SIX of the Doodlebug/Hampton Arts rubber cling mount stamps on this layout. Can you find them? Ok, ok . . . I'll tell ya.  The tag, the sun, the dashed border, the circle border, the word "hello" and the rectangular frame.  Using six stamps is definitely an accomplishment for me.  LOL!

Be sure to check out Monique's fabulous sketch and her awesome layout on the Doodlebug blog today.  Thanks for stopping by!

June TSR Page Starter

Last month, we started a new feature at The ScrapRoom . . . Page Starters. Basically, I give you a page with patterned paper and then you finish it off with embellishments. Here's this month's version.

And here is how I finished it off with a picture block, more circles, a title, date, and two butterflies.

Father's Day Cards

With Father's Day quickly approaching, I thought I'd share a couple of cards. Ya know, just in case you still need to whip one up before Sunday.

Dad, You Rock

For this one, I used Simple Stories Awesome collection from my June ScrapRoom Flavors of the Month kit.  Perfect for all your masculine projects!  I LOVE the license plate border sticker.  Too cool.

This next one is actually a birthday card for my step dad, but you could easily change the sentiment to something that would work for Father's Day.

Birthday Fishes

My background paper is October Afternoon's Campfire.  LOVE that plaid!  For the label and fish, I used my Cricut Expression and two Cricut Craftroom exclusive cartridges, Labels and Sea Birds and Fish.  For the word "fishes," though, I used the Billionaire cartridge.  That's one of my new favorite fonts!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great weekend.

NEW from Doodlebug

Hey all you stampers . . . Doodlebug has teamed up with Hampton Arts to create stamps. They come in both acrylic and rubber cling mounts and feature an array of cute images. Here are a few of my favorite sets.

The generous folks at Hampton Arts gave an assortment of stamps to the Doodlebug Designers and we are featuring them over at the blog all month long. For my first project, I created this rockin' Father's Day card.

Dad Rocks Card

I am not very good at stamping, but these stamps were super easy to use. The images came out crisp and the Color Box pigment inks are a perfect match to the papers. Here, I simply created my sentiment with the Curly Alphabet stamps. So easy, but really eye-catching!

I have big plans for some more stamping projects in the next couple of weeks. But, in the meantime, be sure to check out the Doodlebug Blog HERE to see what the other girls came up with.

See ya soon!

June Sketch @ TSR

Our monthly sketch challenge at The ScrapRoom is in full swing.  I thought I'd pop on today to invite you over to take a look and join in.  Here's the sketch.

And here's my layout. I used Basic Grey's PB&J kit, which is perfect for my 4th of July photos. I just love all the different patterns and shades of red and blue.

All American Boys

I just wanted to point out that I misted on my background cardstock. That is a rare occurrence for me, but I decided it was time to use some of the supplies that are just sitting around my studio.  I really liked how this one came out . . . I may have to try that again.

These Jillibean Soup tiny alphabet stickers were perfect for the journaling part of the sketch.  I didn't exactly journal, but I did draw out my title and include my date.  Works for me!

The rest of the team did an awesome job with the sketch.  You can see their layouts HERE as well as get all the details on how to enter this month's sketch challenge.  Can't wait to see your take!

Foto Friday: Disney Highlights

Happy Friday to ya! For a second there, I wasn't sure what day it was. We've been in Disney for the past week and just got back yesterday evening. We had a great time and now we're going to need a vacation after our vacation. Ha ha! Here are a few pictures.

After I finish unpacking and washing the mountain of clothes that comes with that, I plan to get into my scrap room and create a little something.  See you next week!

Cute Beach Boy

Hi friends!  Just wanted to share one of my ScrapRoom June layouts.  This one uses Basic Grey PB&J, which I LOVE!!!  The floral paper said beach to me, so here is what I created.

Cute Beach Boy

A mixed title makes me smile!  For this one, I used some Thickers, the Basic Grey alpha stickers that came in the kit, and blue October Afternoon mini alphas.  How fun!

Flowers are totally allowed on a beach layout where your son's swim shirt has flowers on it.  Did you know that?  Yep, it's a rule.  LOL!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I'll be back soon to share some more of my June ScrapRoom gallery work.  I'm actually on a jet plane on the way to Disney World right now, so it may be a few days before I make another post.  See ya soon!
