TSR August Page Starter

Hello scrappy friends!  Long time, no see, hun?  I've gone back to teaching high school English, and I've been busy, busy getting school started for myself and my own kiddos.  We just got into the groove of things and now we're home for two days because of inclement weather, also known as Hurricane Isaac.  Soooo . . . what better time to do some scrapping, right?

I posted this Page Starter over at The ScrapRoom at the beginning of the month.  The challenge is due this Friday, August 31st.  Still plenty of time to play!

Here's my original layout created with this design.  Just a couple of small differences.

To see the full post with details and more sample pages, you can go HERE.  In the meantime, I hope all my friends here in the path of Isaac stay high and dry.  Happy scrapping!

Last Friday

Happy Friday to ya!  It's the last Friday of summer here in our neck of the woods.  And my kiddos are ready, can I tell ya?  They like the routine.  And getting to see their friends everyday.  And the lunches. Yeah, I kinda take offense to that last one, but whatever.  Anyhoo, I thought I'd share a school layout since that's what on our minds these days.

5th Grade Awards

I LOVE this paper by Adornit.  The colors are so bright and fun.  And the words paper is perfect for just about any kind of school pictures that you need to scrap.

I used three Cricut cartridges on this one: Labels Digital, Locker Talk, and Stars Digital.  The digital cartridges are available at Cricut Craft Room.  They make designing pretty simple!

Since fist playing with my Cricut, I've rediscovered Stickles.  LOVE to use them to accent my cuts.  Here, I've added yellow to the trophy.  It really shines in person.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great weekend!

TSR August Sketch

Happy Saturday to ya!  Are you going to get some scrappy time this weekend?  If so, I have a sketch for ya.  It's the ScrapRoom's August sketch.

Here's my page.  I changed the sketch a little.  Instead of the three horizontal 2x3" photos, I used one vertical 4x6" photo.  The other change I made was not using the horizontal paper strip behind the pictures.  I didn't think one more pattern would work on my page.

For the large butterflies, I covered a piece of scrap white cardstock in strips of washi tape and then used my Sizzix die cut machine to punch out butterflies.  I was so easy!  I plan to use this technique again.  Maybe for stars next time.

This sketch challenge closes on Friday, August 31st.  Be sure to link up at this TSR blog post to be eligible for a $10 gift certificate to the store.  There's a TON of washi tape available in case you want to  die cut a few butterflies.  Happy scrapping!

TSR August Layouts

The ScrapRoom August kits were revealed yesterday.  I got to work with the amazing Flavors of the Month kit.  I loved how diverse the lines were.

2 Sweet Smiles

This is Prima's Doodle Deux collection.  I just love how the colors pop off the black cardstock.  And I haven't added flowers to a layout in a while, but since my boys were outside . . . ya know, that's ok.

The October Afternoon Woodland Park collection was perfect for scrapbooking some pics of my brother and his girlfriend at Easter.  They are such a lovely couple, and I am so very happy for them!  The paper butterflies were actually created from washi tape.  I'll have a tutorial on that at TSR later in the month.

Surf's Up, Dude!

Oh me. I am a sucker for some orange.  Little Yellow Bicycle's Splash collection is just the kind of bright, fun line I like.  How cute is that chipboard umbrella?  And those little fish . . . I just cut those freehand and added some buttons.  Easy!

On another note, just wanted to tell everyone that I probably won't be blogging much over the next few weeks, maybe even months, as I transition back into the classroom.  I just got a job at my sons' future high school teaching English IV.

I am thrilled!  And a bit nervous since it's been four years since I last taught.  Wish me luck!
