Love, love, love!

Ooowee, I love this paper! I wasn't so sure at first because it's so busy, but I just love how it all looks layered on top of each other. I used one of my Feb. kits from The Scraproom and sketch #8 at 52 Sketches! My favorite part of it all, though, is the stitched satin ribbon around the inside of the heart. I've been wanting to try that for a while, and I LOVE it!

Love Is In the Air

Mixer #8 from Mix It Up! The sketch was fabulous, and the colors were inspired by a Life Savers pub ad. Fun.

I also included five patterned papers from five different lines for the Method Playground challenge. The layout includes Sassafras Lass, Scenic Route, October Afternoon, Pink Paislee, and Making Memories. Actually, those are my favorite lines!

UPDATE: Unbelievable! I did a little Sunday morning blog surfing before church and saw this page in the Two Peas Top 10. [It, too, was at number 6. New lucky number?] That made my day!!!

Addicted to Pink

I found myself a new sketch site called Pink Sketches. LOVE it! All the sketches as well as the Design Team's layouts are fab-u-lous. This is my entry for their Design Team search using sketch #1. And, this is my second boy layout in a row that includes pink. I'm done worrying about not putting girlie colors or flowers on my boy pages. FREEDOM!

Mixing It Up!

My friend Frances suggested that I mix it up a little. She was referring to Mix It Up: The Challenge Blog. The "recipe" for Mixer #7 was to include (1) five patterned papers (2) multiple photos (3) at least one handmade embellishment (4) die cuts and (5) a phrase for a title. It was such fun, and I really love my result.

I know, I (and lots of it) on a boy's page. Still love it, though. Thanks, Frances, I had tons of fun with this challenge!

P.S. My layout was at Two Peas Top 10 (#6 when I checked)! Love that.

Results of a Scrappy Weekend!

I love this picture of my little boy on his PawPaw's big tractor. Even though I wanted a picture of him and his brother up there, Ethan insisted that he sit by himself, saying, "Me Drive It!" This layout is for the Back Porch Memories' April Guest Design Team contest.

Here's my oldest son with his two cousins. Even though it's February, it felt like Spring on this day. Such sweet smiles! The design is from Pencil Lines.

Design Team January Assignment

I have been dying to post this page now for about three weeks! We got our Treasured Memories Design Team January Assignment on a Wednesday, and I was scrapbooking that same Thursday. I LOVE a challenge. Shh! Don't tell the DT Coordiantor Melissa.

Anyway, our instructions were that the layout must (1) be a 2 page 12x12 layout (2) be about me and showcase my style (3) contain at least one 5x7 photo of myself and (4) use new products from Treasured Memories. I can't wait to see it hanging in the store because I think it looks much better in person. Take a looksy and tell me what you think!

I cut up the Butterfly Swirl paper, placing the swirls on top of the Crate Paper circle in the corners. I also cut out and stickled the butterflies. Since their antennae were too small to cut out, I used stick pins. I also used gems for their bodies. All the letters in the title have Stickle on them. You just can't have too much glitter!

Each of my little embellishment clusters contains a chipboard scallop, some paper flowers, a butterfly, and a journal tag. I created the journal tags with a stamp and some rub-ons. To unite the two large circles and the random embellishment clusters, I glued down some "loop-de-loops" of sequin ribbon. I wanted it to look like the butterfly trail.

Products: Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned Paper: Wild Saffron by K & Co., Lemon Grass by Crate Paper; Letters: Thickers Poolside and Giftbox; Stickle: Baby Blue, Cinnamon, Crystal, Mermaid, Orange Peel, XMas Red and Yellow; Flowers: Prima; Stamp: Making Memories; Stick Pins: Hobby Lobby; Sequin Ribbon: Westrim; Chipboard: Maya Road; Brads: K & Co.; Jewels: Hero Arts and Walmart; Chalk: Versa Magic Cosmic Copper, Mango Madness, Thatched Straw, and Turquoise Gem; Ink: StazOn Timber Brown; Rub-Ons: October Afternoon.

We get our new assignment on Tuesday night, so I'll guess I'll be scrapbooking Wednesday. LOL!

P.S. A special thanks to my BFF Frances for making me look good on camera! She turned that camera every which way and took about 50 shots. I had a hard time narrowing them down because she's just that good!

My Little Heartbreakers

Wow! I love to take pictures of my kiddos. The idea was to take a picture of the two of them in their matching Valentine shirts, but my one-year-old was not cooperative. He wanted to climb the tree. Instead, I took a picture of each of them. I just LOVE them. I can't wait to scrapbook these pictures with some fab red, white, and blue Valentine paper. This springtime weather and my parents' scenic bayou property just begs for photos every Sunday.

TAG, I'm it!

The wonderful Amy Muffolato, whom I met at Treasured Memories, has tagged me. It's a neat tag, though. From your digital picture album, you post the fourth picture from the fourth folder and its story. Then, you tag four more people. Not too bad, and we get to see some great photos.

This is my one-year-old sitting on the steps of the jungle gym. He can't take time to smile for me because he's stuffing Cheezits in his mouth. [That boy loves a cracker.] I can't wait to scrap these photos...there's a whole series of them. Me and him both trying to capture some cheese! LOL

Now, I'd like to see pictures from

1. Frances at Forever and a Year
2. Danielle at Life, One Layout at a Time
3. Brandi at Scrapping Memories One Layout at a Time
4. Tanya at Forget Me Nots

New Look (Again!)

This new blog background is from Janny Pie Crafts (linked in my blog list). It's inspired by Pottery Barn! Since I can't afford much of their home decor, I thought I'd use this free background to decorate my blog. I LOVE it! She has lots of cute and pretty stuff. Check it out.

Simple and Sweet

So, lately, I've been struggling with the idea that less might just be more! I love the clean, simple layouts that I see in magazines, on Two Peas, etc. But, when I try to create one myself, I just don't seem to like the result. This time, however, I think I like what I got. The key, I think, was more photos....something to look at since there isn't a whole lot of "junk" on the page. Imagine that....the photos!

The page is called "My Son Shine." It includes paper by Sassafras Lass and Cosmo Cricket. The buttons are SEI and the alphabet stickers are also Sassafras. Finally, the layout is from this month's sketch at Gettin' Sketchy.

Can't Get Enough October Afternoon, Even in February

I LOVE these bright colors in October Afternoon's Main Street line. I think this is the third page I've done with this paper. I love how it's almost vintage and floral. And, to make it even better, these pictures of my toddler picking oranges were the perfect match. My sweet little orange tree is from Maya Road. The layout is based on Sketch #9 at Inspired Blueprints.

So Excited!

I forgot to mention that I won myself a Guest Design Team spot at the Scrapperie, a French-themed kit club. Each month the site will feature three Tres Chic Design Team Members and three Guest Designers. Not sure yet which month I'll be designing, but I'll let you know. In the meantime, take a gander at their site. Their kits are HUGE!

My 2 New Year's Eve Dates

Oooo...I had a fun time with this page! It is based on Sketch #5 at 52 Sketches. Yes, the paper is pink and green. Yes, there are lots of flowers on the page. Yes, those are boys in the pictures. Shhh! Don't tell my husband!

I just love that negative strip. Now I need one of the chipboard ones....they probably photograph better!

Still Scrapping Christmas

I've postponed my Christmas pages long enough! Here's my two boys opening gifts with their two sets of grandparents. They're SO spoiled.

I just love this Glitz bright and fun! I used wooden snowflakes from Michael's as accents. I'm not crazy about the title area; I wishe I'd have put it at the bottom. I should really take my photos BEFORE I glue everything down.

Monthly Sketch Book

In January I created a sketch booklet for my bff Frances and I to use while scrapbooking at Tresured Memories in Lafayette. It contained a small picture of all my favorite sketches for the month complete with due dates and prizes. We found it so useful that we used it the entire month.

With some prodding from Frances, I agreed to make one each month. I thought I'd share them with all my blog friends. If you'd like a copy, just click on each picture below and print. All of the blogs and sites mentioned can be found in my blog list if you'd like to upload your completed page.

Check back in the middle of the month for updates. Enjoy, and leave me a comment if you print it out!

A Couple of Saturday Night Quickies

I LOVE sketches! I was able to knock out both of these one-pagers in just a couple of hours thanks to Page Maps and Pencil Lines #117. Not only do they give me a sketch and some inspiration, but they actually give away prizes too! Gotta love that.

The first page is called Sleepy Head. My toddler woke up mid nap in the car. What a face, hun? I love that Scenic Route paper and that Jenni Bowlin scallop. The second page is Tradition, featuring my family's annual Christmas picture. Looking at the page now, I wish I would have scooted everything to the right to eliminate some of that blank space and make the page a little askew. Oh well, one less Christmas page to do, right?

Check back in the next few days for some double pagers! I'm in the mood...
