Project Life: August Sketches

Hi friends! I had so much fun creating new title card designs last month that I decided to challenge myself to a repeat performance for August. After all, school is about to start and I won't have nearly as much free time, so I thought I would create a couple of more sketches to make scrapping fast and easy during the school year. That's what I'd like to share with you today: two more Project Life sketches.

August Sketch #1

For this sketch, I was inspired by the banner die cuts and the library card journal card from the October Afternoon Public Library collection.  Adding a 3x4 to my 4x6 title card with a few other embellishments is a quick and easy solution when you don't have any 4x6 cards.

August Sketch #2

For this card, I really wanted to showcase the wooden circle embellishments by Elle's Studio. I backed them with some scrap pieces to really help them stand out. For the gray card, I cut out one of the polaroid shapes from one of the papers in the kit and turned it sideways.  We often have polaroid style die cuts in our kits, so this sketch can be reused for a variety of pages.

I hope that your Project Life sketch collection is growing and making it easier for you to "Get More Pages Done!" Thanks for stopping by and see you next month.

Project Life: Love This

Hi there! Today I wanna share the last layout that I made with my August kits from The ScrapRoom. These are some random pics from my breakfast room mini makeover and my Raskog cart. The papers are Echo Park's Capure Life.

Love This

Since there were so many different patterns on the title card, I decided to keep it pretty simple and just add a 3x4 card and flair button (from my stash). For the 3x4 journal card below, I added an arrow paper clip that I cut up. I really wasn't sure how to add it as a clip, so I used my wire cutters to remove the back part.

That's the last of my pages, but I do have a couple of sketches to share. See you soon with those!

Project Life: Get Lost in a Book

Today's layout is from the first two weeks of school with my students last year. We were working on annotating our summer reading book in preparation for a Socratic seminar and creating Gallery Walk posters from the Beowulf background information (in case there are any teachers reading this).  I used more of the October Afternoon Public Library collection from my ScrapRoom kits. I focused on just three colors in this layout -- turquoise, coral, and black.

Thanks for coming by today. Be back soon to share the last layout that I made with my August kits from The ScrapRoom.

Project Life: Back to the Books

Today, I have a quick share from this time last year when I redecorated and reorganized my classroom. As you can see from the pictures, there is a LOT of green in my room. Carpet, cabinets, walls, desks. Even the blinds were green, but I swapped them out for white. To make it a bit more tolerable, I brought in some cute borders that included the green and lots of other fun colors. Then, I spread those colors around the room. Much better!

The October Afternoon Public Library collection that came in my kits included that same green as well as the pops of red, yellow, and green that I included in my room. What luck!

Back to the Books

Well, like I said, a quick share. I'm back at work this week. UGH! But at least my room is cute. LOL See you soon!

Project Life: Sunshine

Hi friends. Today, I want to share another layout using The ScrapRoom's August Project Life kit. The colors in Good Day Sunshine are so bright, just perfect for scrapping the last of my photos from our July 2013 vacation to Gulf Shores.

For my title card, I added a collage of stickers and chipboard and then just used a small label sticker for the title. The title doesn't always have to be big, does it?

Again, I went a little crazy with the stickers. They were so cute! For the card on the left, I backed the two frame stickers with paper and then added small stickers on top.

For the 4x6 filler card, I cut a circle off the edge of the paper, backed it with graph patterned paper, and then added a chipboard popsicle and a brad. I love how the chipboard really pops off the paper.

Well, that is the end of my summer pages and the end of my summer. Be back soon with some school pages.

Project Life: August 2013

Wow, it's August. For me that means the hottest month of the year and the end of my nice summer break. I start back to work on August 7th and the kids go back on the 12th. So long lazy summer days. Ahhhh ... oh well, at least I have scrapbook albums to look at so that I can relish our memories. Today, I have the first of my August layouts to share. For this one, I used the Elle's Studio goodies that I received in my Flavors of the Month and Project Life kits from The ScrapRoom.

Aug 2013

At first I wasn't sure that these soft pastel colors would work with my photos, but I really like how it turned out. The yellow is actually a bit brighter than it is showing in these photos. One thing I liked about the Elle's Studio 12x12 papers is that the brand name strip at the bottom had a nice coordinating pattern on the back. The happiness card above includes two of those patterns.

I got several acrylic overlays in my kits this month. LOVE them! I didn't even have to attach the one above to my photos. I just slipped it in the pocket with them. It hasn't shifted or anything. For the & this card below, I cut down one of the 12x12 sheets of paper so that the sunburst was right in the middle of my 3x4 card and then I just added the wooden heart on top. SO easy.

This kit is so pretty. Be sure to head over to The ScrapRoom Gallery so that you can see what the rest of the team did with it.  See you soon with more of my August pages in detail.
